UCM stands for Uncertainty in Computer Models. The UCM mailing list is for announcements and general discussion regarding statistical methods for quantifying, analysing and managing the uncertainties in the predictions of complex mechanistic models.

The list is established as a result of additional funding being awarded to the MUCM group, part of which funding is to enable MUCM to provide a focus and services for the wider community of people active in this field. We are building on the successful UCM2010 conference, which brought together many people with interests in computer model uncertainties.

The new UCM community initiative will in due course involve a variety of pages to inform and keep readers updated with activities we are undertaking to support the UCM community. We already have dedicated UCM pages within our MUCM website, through which we aim to provide information and services such as a regular news digest on our mailing list activity, a calendar of events etc.
